I'm sitting here doing a mental: Yay Yay Yay for ME cheer as I get a look at the standings of our Family Fantasy Football (FF) League. And, the Standings show: Barbara is 3-0 over the first three weeks of competition!! Now, I am a very competitive person; so leading after 3 weeks is a big deal to me. I know there are 14 more weeks in the season. But, for the here and now: Yay! Yay!
Lest you think that I’ve strayed off the beaten path of topics for my Blog; let me share the superordinate role that I see FF playing for ME. First and foremost is the role it can play in my desire to maintain a healthy brain/mental activity level as I age. It’s only been in the last few weeks that I’ve learned that FF could be added to my “chest of options” of things I can do for healthy brain maintenance activity. Things like Wordle, Connections, word searches, and Sudoku (just to name a few); all fall into this chest.
Secondly, is my strong commitment to keeping “LifeLong Learning” as a prominent part of who I am. You don’t stop learning just because others refer to you as part of the aging “Baby Boomer” generation. I love learning new things across many dimensions of everyday life, and some very scholarly and eclectic things too!
Thirdly, I love to compete and FF offers the opportunity to do this at a stage of my life where those physical abilities have declined that allowed me to: roam the expanse of the singles tennis court, run the length of a basketball court, or to run the yards required to catch a football from my one of grandsons.
So, for me, an avid football follower who has passed on Fantasy Football since its inception: Bring It On!
